I used the figure in these pieces to focus on various social issues. Young people have many difficult obstacles to overcome in their journey to become themselves. I was especially thinking about the pressure on women in our society to be sexual objects. I started using the Greek myth of Daphne as a motif. Daphne was turned into a tree rather than be taken by Apollo.
