Water is the source of life on earth. When water is encouraged to react with materials, an endless variety of shapes and textures results. In this series of large watercolors (60″ x 40″) I am encouraging water, paper and pigments to inter-react dramatically. These forms are not an imitation of nature but the result of actual natural events taking place on the paper. I love the wild and unexpected nature of these chaotic events, but feel the need to organize and stabilize nature’s random flux and flow with some stabilizing structure or geometric order.
